Charity work has always been of great importance to the team at Hayward Baker, and we are proudly involved with a number of important causes. Whether it’s taking part in a run or baking an array of cakes, our dedicated staff are always willing to take an interest in a range of charitable activities.
Great South Run
Dennis Donnelly, a Personal Injury Claims Assistant at Hayward Baker, is one of our team members with a long history of raising money for vital charities. This includes the Great South Run, which was a 10-mile event taking place in Portsmouth. Dennis ran in October in aid of the Meningitis Research Charity, which is the fourth time that he has taken part over the last five years. Previously, Dennis ran for the Fareham RSPCA rescue shelter, The Royal British Legion, and Macmillan Cancer Research.
In 2014, Dennis further participated in the Mini Run with his son to raise money for a new imaging machine at the QA hospital in Portsmouth. Hayward Baker are delighted to see the commitment that Dennis has to a number of charities, with the Great South Run counting as one of his favourite events. Dennis told us: “The atmosphere of the other runners and the crowd is amazing on the day. You really feel like you’re making a difference by what you are doing. 10 miles is a long way to run if you don’t usually run very far!”
All members of the team at Hayward Baker are happy to sponsor Dennis, as we have been doing every year. At the next event, Dennis plans to run with his wife who was inspired by the runners crossing the finish line earlier this year. This run will also be in aid of the Stroke Association.
Red Nose Day
Other members of Hayward Bakers staff who enjoy contributing towards charitable events include our Legal Assistant Lori Sheil. For Red Nose Day this year, Lori decided to bake a selection of cakes for the whole team, who all donated to this important cause and received a tempting treat in return.
Our Claims Assistant Willow Baker takes part through selling tickets for the Motor Neurons Disease charity’s Christmas raffle, which is in memory of her uncle who fell victim to the disease. All proceeds go towards scientific research in the hope of finding a cure.
Our Legal Assistant Jodie Longstaff is also planning on running a half marathon in Bath in aid of a dementia charity (name TBC).
Hayward Baker’s team are dedicated to both charity involvement and their day to day work within the office. Keep an eye out for future newsletters providing further updates on our charity happenings!
