Our client was employed by an agency to do some factory work where he was filling cylinders with gas. The job was to place the nozzle from the gas supply into the gas bottle and basically fill it. As he was filling a bottle some of the gas leaked out and hit his arm causing severe burns and blisters.
Our Client’s Injuries:
Burn to left forearm leaving a permanent scar.
What Hayward Baker did to help?
Ria Tallack one of our experienced claims handlers took on the case on a No Win No Fee basis and made the claim through the low value personal injury insurers portal.
The gas company (the third party defendant) acknowledged the claim and admitted liability subject to medical evidence.
Ria sent off for copies of our client’s medical records and on receipt arranged for our client to be examined by a Plastic Surgeon who would formulate a report upon our client’s injuries.
On receipt of the report the medical expert stated that the injuries were consistent with the material accident and that our client’s scar is permanent and should he wish to have cosmetic camouflage treatment then he should seek out an expert in this field.
The medical report was sent to our client for his approval along with a schedule of his special damages (out of pocket expenses incurred as a result of the accident) which included travel expenses to and from medical appointments, E45 cream, sun cream and the cost of Skin Camouflage treatment.
Once the report and schedule had been signed and approved by our client Ria valued the claim for compensation and special damages, the aforementioned documents were forwarded to the insurers asking that they make an offer to settle the claim.
Ria settled our client’s claim in full for £6,552.80
