As our client was riding his bicycle in Dudley, West Midlands, he came up behind a slow moving van that had slowed and pulled over to the left hand side of the road. It later became apparent to driver of the van was looking at door numbers along the street to make a delivery. Our client proceeded to overtake the van, but as he did so, the driver suddenly and without warning moved the van to the right hand side of the road clipping our client and causing him to swerve and mount the pavement in order to avoid a heavier collision. Unfortunately, at the same time, the van also mounted the pavement causing our client to fall off his bike and into collision with a wall. As a result, our client sustained a fractured left collar bone, extensive bruising and soft tissue injuries. Liability was accepted by the van driver’s insurers and damages by way of compensation for personal injuries and financial losses of just over £11,500 was recovered.
