Devon cyclist who was knocked off his bicycle by a car receives over £4,000 in injury compensation

cyclist downhillOur client was cycling along a road in Bridport when a car collided with his rear wheel causing him to fall from his bike and into the road. As a result of the collision our client suffered personal injury and loss.

Our Client’s Injuries:
Broken ribs and injury to both legs. Cuts and bruises to left knee. Injured collar bone and bruised testicles.

What did Hayward Baker Solicitors do to help?
Ria Tallack one of our specialist personal injury claims handlers took on the case on a No Win No Fee basis and used the low value personal injury claims portal to state the claim to the defendant insurers.

After a short period of investigation the defendant insurers contacted Hayward Baker via the portal and confirmed that liability was admitted on behalf of their insured subject to medical evidence.

This mean’t that as long as the medical report from a medical expert confirmed that the injuries were as a result of the accident then they would be paying compensation to our client.

Ria obtained copies of our client’s medical records and once they were received and reviewed by Ria she instructed an Orthopaedic Consultant to examine our client and formulate a report upon his injuries.

Once the report was received from the medical expert Ria reviewed it to make sure it included all the relevant facts. Prior to sending the report to our client for approval Ria also drafted a schedule of our client’s out of pocket expenses which included:

  • Damage to bicycle
  • Inspection of damaged bicycle
  • Replacement cycle jacket, trousers, shoes ,helmet and gloves

Prior to sending the report and schedule to our client for approval, Ria valued what she thought the claim was worth and attached a letter setting out how the claim was valued to our client.

Our client signed and returned the approval forms and confirmed that she was happy for Ria to settle the claim.

Ria settled our client’s claim for £4,200.00
