Ground worker receives a five figure settlement for injuries sustained because of an accident at work when his ladder gave way
Ground worker is seriously injured when his ladder gave way at his workplace and receives compensation from his employer.
Accident Circumstances: Our client was working as a ground worker at a site in Crawley. As he was exiting the basement at the rear of a building via a ladder placed there by the defendants employees the footing gave way and the ladder which had not been secured fell causing our client to fall to the ground and suffer injury.
Our Client’s Injuries: 8 broken ribs and a fracture to the lower lumber spine.
What did Hayward Baker Solicitors do to help: One of our personal injury specialists Verity Taylor who is a solicitor and a Litigator Member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL), a not-for-profit organisation which exists to fight for the rights of injured people, took on the case on a no-win-no-fee basis and sent a letter of claim to the defendant, who denied liability.
We compiled evidence to prove that the defendant was at fault for the accident along with medical evidence to prove our client’s injuries were as a result of the accident. Eventually the defendants admitted liability in full for our client’s accident.
In addition to his compensation claim for damages (injuries) we recovered a sum for his loss of earnings, travelling expenses and medical expenses.
Resolution: our client was awarded £17,000.00 in compensation for his injuries including his out of pocket expenses claim.
