Pedestrian injured after being knocked down by untraced vehicle in Hertfordshire claims over £3,000 in compensation

downloadOur client was waiting to cross a road when the defendant pulled into a parking space and turned off his ignition. Our client proceeded to cross the road when the car driver turned his engine back on and drove away at speed and knocking over our client in the process.

Our Client’s Injuries: Severe wrist and ankle sprain. Soft tissue injury to back.

Hayward Baker Solicitors Involvement: We took on this case on a No Win No Fee basis and as the car driver was untraceable the defendant in this matter was the Motor Insurers Bureau (MIB).

The MIB was established in 1946 to compensate the victims of negligent uninsured and untraced motorists. One aspect of the MIB  is to Compensate victims of uninsured and untraced drivers fairly and promptly. The defendant in this matter was therefore the MIB.

The MIB investigated the accident and were satisfied with their findings and admitted liability.

We arranged for our client to be examined by two medical experts, a General Practitioner and an Orthopaedic Surgeon, who having examined our client formulated reports upon her injuries. It was these reports that we used to value our client’s claim, value the claim and identify any further medical treatment was required. In addition  any out of pocket expenses our client incurred due to the accident, such as travelling to and from her medical appointments.

We negotiated a fair settlement with the MIB and obtained the compensation our client deserved.

Resolution: Our client agreed a settlement figure of £3,200.00
