Our client slipped and fell in a supermarket in St Helen’s as a result of fluid that had spilled into an aisle from a machine being operated by a member of staff. As a lawful visitor to the premises for the purposes of doing her shopping, our client was owed a duty of care by the supermarket and this had clearly been breached in the use of the defective equipment leaking the fluid and creating the slipping hazard. An internal investigation resulted in an early admission of liability and our client recovered just over £3000 in damages by way of compensation for the soft tissues injuries to her knees and right shoulder together with her financial losses.
