Our client was cycling home from work in Portsmouth when without warning a van driver collided with the rear wheel of his bicycle causing him to fall from his bike and suffer injury. The van driver failed to stop and left the scene.
The incident was reported to the police who initially stated to our client that they were unable to trace the van and driver.
However, the Police eventually traced the driver and his details were forwarded to our client.
Our Client’s Injuries:
Ligament damage to knee, chipped tooth and pain in groin, back and neck.
How Hayward Baker Helped:
One of our Personal Injury Specialists Ria Tallack made the claim through the Low Value Personal Injury Claims Portal.
After investigating our client’s claim, the defendant insurers admitted liability for the accident on behalf of their insured.
Ria obtained medical evidence to support our client’s injuries by arranging a medical appointment with a number of medical experts:
- General Practioner
- Orthopaedic Surgeon
The medical reports formulated by the above medical experts stated that the injuries were as a result of the accident and recommended an MRI scan to fully investigate the knee injury and a dental repair was needed to the chipped tooth .
Valuation of our Client’s claim:
The medical report helped Ria to value our client’s claim for compensation which included a claim for special damages (out of pocket expenses) which consisted of travelling expenses incurred when going to and from medical appointments, dental treatment and loss of earnings.
For his injuries and out of pocket expenses our client was awarded £2,940 in compensation.
