Contractors fined for failing to prevent death at roadworks site

A principal contractor and a road building sub-contractor have been fined at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court after a worker was fatally struck while working on roadworks near Lidgate in Suffolk on 13 May 2014. A Health and Safety Executive (HSE) investigation found the incident could have been prevented if adequate controls and a safe system of work had been in place.
