A bus driver has received GBP 250,000 in injury compensation after a head-on crash that could have cost him his life.
James Morton, 60, had to be cut free by firefighters after a Mercedes van crashed into his bus in Northumberland, Chronicle Live reports.
"If the van had hit another 18 inches to one side, I wouldn’t be alive to talk about it today," he told the paper.
His left leg was shattered and it was only the quick medical attention he received that saved it from being amputated.
Additionally, he was forced to leave his job after his driving licence was revoked on medical grounds.
After a legal battle lasting two years, the driver of the van finally admitted liability for the crash and Mr Morton received a GBP 250,000 car accident compensation payout.
It follows reports in the Cambs Times that a Cambridgeshire woman has received injury compensation after a slippery road caused her to crash.
