A man who suffered severe head injuries falling from a night bus in London has been awarded an injury compensation payout worth more than GBP 1 million.
Vincenzo Bollito, 36, lost his memory, has become partially sighted and may not be able to work again since the incident, which occurred in July 2005.
He became stuck in the doors of the double decker after boarding at the traffic lights in Haymarket and fell when they opened again, striking his head on the road.
Bus operator Arriva London has agreed to settle Mr Bollito’s case for a lump sum of GBP 1.3 million, which will include lifetime index-linked annual payments of GBP 31,500 to cover the cost of his care.
It follows news that the family of a musician who was killed in a car crash that also claimed the lives of five others has received a GBP 240,000 injury compensation payout.
