A safety campaign has been launched to cut down on the number of accidents and injury compensation claims resulting from the installation of TV aerials and satellite dishes in Devon and Cornwall.
Over the next few months officers from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) will be visiting electrical retailers and installers to provide advice and safety tips to the workforce.
The campaign is part of a wider drive across the south-west to ensure safer working standards at height and will also target rogue traders who may be putting their employees at risk of work injuries.
"We expect any aerial or satellite installer to be appropriately trained and equipped for safe working at height. Those who are not need to be trained and equipped as soon as possible," commented HSE inspector David Cory.
Latest HSE figures show that every month over a thousand people suffer serious injuries as a result of falls and trips in the workplace.
