Lincoln College and a window cleaning company have been fined a total of GBP 4,000 after a window cleaner was involved in an accident at work.
James Theaker, who was employed by A Nicoll & Son Ltd, suffered broken ribs and a serious back injury when he fell four metres while cleaning windows at the college.
The 50-year-old from Lincoln had accessed the roof of the main reception building using a ladder and was leaning against the building to clean nearby windows when he fell.
"Mr Theaker has suffered life-changing injuries as a result of his fall. Lincoln College had a legal duty to check its contractors had proper procedures in place but failed to do so," said Health and Safety Executive inspector Judith McNulty-Green.
Lincoln College was fined GBP 1,500 and A Nicoll & Son Ltd was fined GBP 2,500.
Earlier this month, Dranson Ltd was fined GBP 8,000 after one of its employees was also involved in an accident at work.
The teenage worker was crushed when approximately 700 kg of steel fell off a trolley onto him.
