A man from Sheringham has received £1,000 in injury compensation after a violent assault which may have permanently damaged his sight.
Curt Watkinson, who was 17 at the time, was attacked as he was walking home from a local pub in August 2008, the Norwich Evening News reports.
His attacker, 22-year-old Darren Fairclough, punched Mr Watkinson in the eye while another man beat him with a piece of wood.
During the assault Mr Watkinson suffered injuries to his iris, meaning he will have difficulty seeing in brightly-lit areas.
Mr Fairclough was sentenced in court to a 12-month community order and ordered to pay £1,000 in injury compensation to Mr Watkinson, as well as £455 in court costs.
It comes soon after reports in the Scarborough Evening News that a 27-year-old man has received a £1,500 compensation payout following a nightclub attack which left him scarred for life.
