A Czech woman is seeking accident compensation after a foot-long surgical instrument was found in her abdomen.
Sixty-six-year-old Zdenka Kopeckova claims that staff initially tried to cover up their mistake, despite her complaints about pain following a gynaecological operation, reports Reuters.
She told the news agency: "I said that nobody helps me and I cannot live like this til the end of my life.
"I told the head surgeon that if I had no pain I would not be complaining. I’m not a hypochondriac."
The case comes after a report in the Times-Series revealed that a disabled six-year-old from Golders Green has won £3 million in compensation following a payout.
Lawyers argued that there had been a delay in her delivery at birth which caused her to suffer brain damage.
They claimed that, had the delivery been carried out just half an hour earlier, she would have escaped permanent injury.
