A man is said to be recovering in hospital after losing his foot in an accident at work.
Matthew Alison of Shap was using a wood shaving machine when the incident occurred, reports the Westmoreland Gazette.
Nicholas Fleming, company secretary at A W Jenkinson Forest, told the paper: "Obviously we are extremely concerned and members of staff are very shocked.
"We need to look at the causes and go from there."
The 24-year-old is believed to be recovering well at the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle following his work injury.
Meanwhile, the Health and Safety Executive has warned of the dangers of not maintaining plant equipment effectively following the death of a worker using a telescopic forklift truck.
The victim’s employer, MB Plastics Ltd of Forward Works, pleaded guilty to breaching health and safety legislation and the company was fined £150,000 and ordered to pay costs of £24,323.
