The family of a man killed in a horrific car crash that also killed five other people has been awarded GBP 240,000 in injury compensation.
Musician Ian Ledsham was killed after 20-year-old Samuel Sayer smashed into his car while travelling at around 80mph in a 50mph zone while intoxicated, the Hampshire Chronicle reports.
Mr Sayer and the four passengers in the vehicle with him were also killed in the crash, which happened in September 2005.
"He was much loved as a father and was a very talented individual," the paper reports Judge Iain Hughes QC as saying.
"This award will not provide enormous comfort to them, but it will give them some financial security."
His family has now been awarded GBP 240,000 in injury compensation, although lawyers acting on their behalf had sought more than twice that amount.
The news comes after reports in This is Gloucestershire that a former soldier has received an undisclosed but substantial injury compensation payout after being knocked from his bike by a drink driver.
