A fine of GBP 1,500 has been issued to a building company after a schoolboy was injured in an accident at work.
The 15-year-old boy was completing work experience at Alan Fleischer Builders Ltd when the incident took place in March 2010.
As he climbed down a ladder at a site on West Street in the centre of Sheffield, he fell 2.4 m and landed on the floor.
The boy was taken to hospital later in the day but was discharged with bruising to his left side.
Health and Safety Executive inspector Medani Close said: "This young student was lucky not to have suffered worse injuries from his fall."
As well as being fined GBP 1,500, Alan Fleischer Builders Ltd, of Dinnington, was ordered to pay GBP 1,320 in costs.
Last month, another Sheffield construction company, MacDonald Joinery & Construction Ltd, was fined GBP 15,000 after one of its employees suffered serious injuries in an accident at work.
