A violent assault in Exwick has led to a woman being ordered to pay GBP 1,200 in injury compensation to her boyfriend.
Julie Rich used a bolognese jar to break into her own home in Farm Hill, where she went to the bedroom where her boyfriend was sleeping and attacked him, the Express and Echo reports.
A courtroom heard that she scratched and bit him before picking up a knife from the draining board and stabbing Timothy Marks in the face.
Mr Marks also suffered a bone-deep cut to his finger in the assault, during which he tried to call the police.
The presiding judge decided against a custodial sentence due to the unique nature of the case, choosing instead to impose a community order and force Ms Rich to pay GBP 1,200 in injury compensation to the defendant.
It follows recent reports in the News and Star that a drunken attack with a brick resulted in a GBP 1,500 injury compensation bill for a Cumbrian man.
