A woman has been awarded GBP 18,000 after breaking her leg by tripping over in a Tewkesbury pub.
Selena Gilder, 40, was in the smoking area at the back of the Oldbury Road pub when she tripped after catching the heel of her shoe in a crack in the floor.
She fell backwards through a door in a disused toilet block that was supposed to be locked, breaking both the tibia and fibula of her right leg.
Ms Gilder required three operations to fix her damaged leg and has lost eight months of work so far.
She is now finally able to walk properly and plans to invest the GBP 180,000 injury compensation payout she received from the pub’s insurers.
The case follows reports in the Weston & Somerset Mercury that a pensioner from Portishead is seeking compensation after badly hurting both ankles when she tripped on a hole in the road last August.
