A pub-goer has been handed an expensive injury compensation bill after a night out ended in violence at the Shoulder of Mutton in Barton under Needwood.
The landlord Robert Spurrier was attacked during closing time after asking drinker Luke Roberts to leave the premises, the Burton Mail reports.
Mr Roberts held Mr Spurrier by his throat against a car before punching him in the left eye, knocking him to the ground.
He suffered a fractured wrist in the fall and was unable to return to work for a long time after the attack, which occurred in January.
Mr Roberts was ordered to pay GBP 2,500 in injury compensation to Mr Spurrier, as well as carrying out 200 hours of unpaid community work.
The incident follows reports in the Herald Express that a man who broke a bouncer’s nose at a nightclub in Torquay has been ordered to pay GBP 600 in injury compensation to his victim.
