Fines totalling GBP 30,000 have been issued to two individuals and one firm after a man died in an accident at work.
John Cain was working on a project to demolish the Albert Park Inn on Great Clowes Street in Salford on November 22nd 2004 when the incident occurred.
The 36-year-old was hit by the excavator bucket on a digger and he died later that day from the injuries he sustained.
"Hopefully, now that those responsible for health and safety on the site have been punished, we'll be able to put this behind us and get on with our lives," said Karen Doran, Mr Cain's ex-partner and the mother of his three children.
Fines were issued to business partners Barry Godliman and Robert Watson, who were the principal contractors on the site, and Windmill Demolition Company Ltd which was the specialist sub-contractor hired to carry out the demolition work.
Earlier this month, a boarding school in Shropshire was fined GBP 25,000 after a man died while completing demolition work at the site.
