Gran seeks injury compensation after pavement fall

A grandmother is seeking injury compensation after a pavement fall caused serious injuries to her face in Croydon.

Hilary Wilson said she was left looking "like Dracula" after she tripped on a cracked pavement on Davidson Road in Woodside, the Croydon Advertiser reports.

She still has bruising on her face despite the accident occurring more than three weeks ago and is now pursuing the possibility of launching an injury compensation claim against Croydon Council.

"My eyes were completely black and I didn’t want the grandchildren to see me like this. I looked dreadful and it really hurt," she told the paper.

"The crack in the pavement was enough to send me down."

A spokesperson for Croydon Council said the authority will check the area to see if repairs are necessary.

The news follows reports by the Wanstead & Woodford Guardian about a similar incident in Redbridge, in which a grandmother broke her arms after tripping on a paving slab.ADNFCR-2070-ID-19368967-ADNFCR
