Injury compensation awarded for restaurant slip

A Manchester mother is in line for a five-figure injury compensation sum after a slip at an Indian restaurant led to more serious health problems.

Paula Jefferies broke her ankle after losing her footing on a concrete ramp outside the Gatley Tandoori restaurant in Stockport, the Manchester Evening News reports.

However, the broken ankle was not the end of her worries – Ms Jefferies then went on to develop a serious pulmonary embolism while recovering after her injury.

She has been told that she is guaranteed an injury compensation payout worth tens of thousands of pounds.

"The restaurant pushed this to the end and we’ve been on tenterhooks," Ms Jefferies told the paper.

"They said the concrete was safe and I was wearing heels but they weren’t particularly high."

Figures from the Health and Safety Executive show that nearly 11,000 employees suffered a serious injury last year as a result of a slip or trip in the workplace.ADNFCR-2070-ID-19217519-ADNFCR
