A student has received injury compensation after his seat collapsed and his leg was cut on a protruding nail as a result of his fall in a Manchester bar.
Faisal Hakeem, 20, was awarded GBP 1,200 in injury compensation from Samuel Smith’s Brewery, which owns Sinclair’s Oyster Bar, the Manchester Evening News reports.
"There was blood everywhere and I ripped my trousers on the nail. I complained to the management at Sinclair’s, but they didn’t want to know," he told the paper.
"I felt what had happened to me was wrong and decided to take legal action."
The compensation settlement for the American-born business studies and psychology student was based on injuries received and pain suffered.
It follows news that a woman in Tewkesbury who broke a leg after catching her heel in damaged concrete in a pub’s smoking area has been awarded GBP 18,000 in injury compensation.
