Leicester residents to seek compensation for pothole injuries?

Motorists have received around GBP 500,000 from Leicestershire County Council for vehicle damage caused by potholes, which can also be the cause of injury compensation claims.

Mechanics in the area told the Leicester and Mercury that damaged road surfaces and were also responsible for many vehicles failing their MOT tests.

"In the past month we have had double the number of cars failing for damaged springs than usual. It must be down to the potholes in the road," Mark Deacon, an MoT tester at Brookside Garage, in Cannock Street, Leicester, told the newspaper.

Highways departments at Leicester City Council and Leicestershire County Council have been given an extra GBP 1.4 million to repair the damaged roads.

Last month, the North-West Evening Mail reported that more than GBP 600,000 had been spent by Cumbria County Council in fighting and paying out injury compensation in the previous four years for pothole and pavement accidents.
