Premier league footballer Marlon King is facing an 18-month jail and has been ordered to pay GBP 3,125 in injury compensation after a shocking nightclub attack.
Wigan Athletic player King, 29, punched a 20-year-old student at London’s Soho Revue Club, breaking her nose and leaving her with a black eye and displaced septum.
The footballer claimed he was a victim of mistaken identity, but witnesses identified him as the attacker and he was landed with a GBP 3,125 injury compensation bill as well as GBP 1,600 in costs.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, Wigan Athletic club chairman said: "He is absolutely sacked we will not tolerate football players who get sent to jail for 18 months.
"As far as we are concerned, he is finished with football at Wigan Athletic."
It follows reports in the Press and Journal earlier in the year that rugby player Ryan Anderson was forced to pay GBP 500 in injury compensation for a nightclub attack.
