Ministry of Justice not pressing ahead with the Small Claim Limit and Whiplash Damages proposed reforms

Good news for Personal Injury Small Claims Limit  and Whiplash Claims

ministry-of-justice-reformsIt appears that the Ministry of Justice have announced that they will not be pressing ahead with the Small Claims Limit and Whiplash Damages proposed reforms.

George Osborne’s reforms to how insurers deal with claims for whiplash injuries have been set aside by the UK government, and will now likely  lead to increases in Insurance premiums for motorists.

It is understood that Government Ministers have told insurers that they are not happy about the proposals, leading the Insurance industry to surmise that they will never emerge. These  reforms would have ended the right to  compensation for minor whiplash injuries, this would have saved the insurers thousands and reduced motorists premiums by around £50.00.

We at Hayward Baker are pleased with this news as these proposals would have had a detrimental effect on the rights of injured victims in road traffic accidents. We are now awaiting to hear further news from the Ministry of Justice through the Motor Accident Solicitors Society (MASS) of which Hayward Baker is a member.
