A Manchester mother has received GBP 1 million in injury compensation after fighting a five-year court case for her daughter.
Patricia Connolly’s daughter Katrina, now 20 years old, was left severely disabled after a car accident in 2004, the Manchester Evening News reports.
Although more than 30 people witnessed the crash, the driver could not be verified in court until he was finally prosecuted for driving without insurance.
Ms Connolly said the injury compensation sum will help her daughter to live a more independent life.
"It means Katrina can get her own flat with carers to help her," she told the paper.
"She won’t have to worry about money and can concentrate on getting her life back on track."
The case follows news that a York family are awaiting car accident compensation in a civil court case after a mother and her daughter were knocked over by an 81-year-old driver.
