A dog owner has been landed with a GBP 2,000 injury compensation bill after her eight-stone St Bernard-Rottweiler cross attacked a girl in South Yorkshire.
Angela Murray’s dog Keeto savaged eight-year-old Jessica White, from Doncaster, who needed two days in hospital and surgery to repair the skin on her arm which was torn by the dog’s teeth.
The judge decided that rather than put Keeto down, the dog will be made to be supervised, on a lead and muzzles at all times, while Ms Murray will be required to pay GBP 2,000 in injury compensation and carry out 150 hours of community work.
"My daughter has been left scarred for life and this dog is still going to be there, living just round the corner from us," Jessica’s mother Dionne told the paper.
"It should have been put down in the first place without going through all this."
The Basildon Recorder reported recently that the owner of a pitbull which mauled a woman and her dog in the street has been ordered to pay GBP 200 in injury compensation.
