An elderly man who suffered injuries after falling over in a Yorkshire hospital may be in line to receive an injury compensation payout.
Len Conway, 84, was attending an appointment at an osteoarthritis clinic when he fell more than 20 feet down a new escalator at Barnsley Hospital, the Yorkshire Post reports.
His injuries included a broken cheekbone and he required a number of stitches on his face, ear, legs and mouth following the accident.
Mr Conway’s daughter Carole is now considering launching an injury compensation claim against the hospital on behalf of her father.
"My dad is totally shattered, it has taken so much out of him that some days he can’t get out of bed. We have to keep taking him back to the hospital for more treatment," she told the paper.
It follows reports in the Birmingham Post that Birmingham Women’s Hospital has paid a five-figure compensation sum to a woman who suffered bladder problems as a result of surgery.
