A playground firm has been fined GBP 4,700 after a man was injured in an accident at work in Selby involving a circular chain saw.
Allan Davis was working for Record RSS, a subsidiary of Playpower UK Ltd, when the incident took place.
His hand was pulled across the blade when he was cutting discs used for playground mini-roundabouts.
Playpower UK Ltd of Tenacre Lane, Egham, Surrey, admitted breaching Section 3(1) of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974.
The company was fined GBP 4,700 and ordered to pay GBP 2,382.40 in court costs.
"Mr Davis suffered a severe injury in a completely preventable incident," said inspector Geoff Fletcher of the Health and Safety Executive.
Last year, the Huddersfield Daily Examiner reported that the family of a boy who fell off a seesaw and broke his skull at a playground had made a compensation claim against Kirklees Council.
