Police constable awarded major injury compensation payout

A police constable has been awarded an injury compensation claim of more than GBP 1 million he was badly hurt in a car crash.

Nicholas Fletcher, 32, was serving with Surrey Police when the driver of a force car in which he was a passenger crashed into a tree.

Mr Fletcher suffered brain damage, collapsed lungs and multiple fractures to his face and leg, forcing him to retire from his job early.

He has been awarded a High Court injury compensation settlement of more than GBP 1 million after the chief constable of Surrey Police did not dispute his claim.

Mr Justice MacDuff, presiding, commented: "I have no difficulty at all in approving this settlement, it is entirely in Mr Fletcher’s interests."

It follows reports in the Essex Echo that electrician Richard Tait, who was badly hurt when a car crashed into his motorcycle, has launched an injury compensation claim for GBP 250,000.ADNFCR-2070-ID-19422750-ADNFCR
