Pub attacker given injury compensation bill

A soldier has been landed with a GBP 2,500 injury compensation bill for drunkenly assaulting a man in Waterbeach.

Lance Corporal Mark Anthony Kelly left his girlfriend at the Brewery Tap pub after an argument, later finding her with Alan Harris who had offered to walk her home, the Cambridge News reports.

He punched Mr Harris and smashed his head on the pavement after he fell to the ground, causing head, face, back and shoulder injuries.

Mr Harris’ injuries were so severe that he has complained of sight and hearing problems since the attack.

Magistrates ordered Mr Kelly, who has served in the army for nine years, to pay GBP 2,500 in injury compensation to his victim, as well as a fine of GBP 1,400.

It follows reports in the Caernarfon Herald that the four attackers of a mother of four in Pwllheli have all been ordered to pay injury compensation.ADNFCR-2070-ID-19469043-ADNFCR
