Pub attacker handed GBP 1,800 injury compensation bill

A 20-year-old father from Waltham Abbey has been landed with a GBP 1,800 injury compensation bill after punching a woman in the face.

Gary Oliver punched his victim twice, knocking her to the ground, after she complained to his mother about his violent behaviour in a pub in Wood Green, the Hertfordshire Mercury reports.

The blows knocked out his victim’s two front teeth, adding to a bleeding nose she had already suffered at his hands.

"She was disorientated, her nose was bleeding and she was understandably annoyed and went over to the defendant to remonstrate with him," the paper reports prosecutor Christopher Gillespie as saying.

"Her main recollection is a friend approaching her and telling her to pick her two teeth up off the floor."

It follows reports in the Plymouth Herald that a 22-year-old man has been ordered to pay GBP 1,000 in injury compensation to a Portuguese man after a vicious attack at a burger van.ADNFCR-2070-ID-19441160-ADNFCR
