Question hangs over injury compensation in crash case

A woman who suffered catastrophic injuries in a car crash when she was a teenager could be set to receive millions in injury compensation, although it has not yet been decided who is liable to pay.

Deborah Parkes, who is now 22, was in Red Lodge, Suffolk in April 2004 when she was hit by a van, whose driver claims he swerved to avoid an oncoming car, the Newmarket Journal reports.

She spent nine months in hospital and sustained such severe injuries that she has had to live in a series of care homes since the accident.

Last year, it was decided that the driver of the car was to blame, but his lawyers have now been granted permission to challenge the decision in the Court of Appeal.

In other news, a biker who was knocked off his vehicle in Manchester city centre was recently awarded GBP 1.25 million in injury compensation.ADNFCR-2070-ID-19682067-ADNFCR
