Union Unite has helped a Renault mechanic recover GBP 30,000 in compensation following a work injury.
Ricky Bratton was repairing street lighting in East Sussex when the incident took place in March 2007.
He was walking to the rear of his van when he was struck by a car driven at high speed, pinning him against his vehicle.
Mr Bratton suffered bruising to the left side of his body, hand, knee, back hip and ribs and was off work for three weeks.
Representing Mr Bratton at Clerkenwell & Shoreditch County Court, Deborah Smith, partner at Pattinson & Brewer, said: "This was a horrifying accident and the consequences could have been much more serious."
This week, it was reported that David Frost received GBP 300,000 following a road traffic incident.
It left him needing ten operations and means he has not been able to work since, Get Surrey reports.
