Sheffield deputy lord mayor to claim compensation after fall

The deputy lord mayor of Sheffield is set to launch a personal injury claim after a garden chair he was sitting on collapsed while he was visiting a community festival.

John Campbell was present to open the Lowedges Festival, organised by the Greenhill and Bradway Tenants' and Residents' Association (TARA).

However, before opening the ceremony he sat on a chair, which collapsed, causing Mr Campbell a personal injury.

According to the Sheffield Star, Mr Campbell is now launching a compensation claim against the Greenhill and Bradway TARA.

A spokesperson for the association confirmed that a letter had been received from Mr Campbell's solicitors, three months after the initial incident, but could not reveal any further details.

The future lord mayor of Sheffield, who is due to take over from the present lord mayor in the early part of next year, stated that it would be inappropriate to comment as matters surrounding the incident were being considered by his legal team.
