Tesco pays injury compensation to family of pensioner

Supermarket chain Tesco has paid out injury compensation to the family of an elderly woman who died months after her leg became trapped in a sliding door at one of its stores.

Margaret Buxton, who was 84 at the time, suffered a large blood clot and required a skin graft after she sustained a cut to her lower right leg after the incident at Tesco in Nottingham city centre.

Six months later she died as a result of the injury after collapsing at home.

"The trauma that she went through shook her greatly, causing her health to deteriorate," her daughter Susan Wilson said.

"She was never the same after her injury, letting herself go and losing all her confidence and spark."

It follows news that a Teesside police worker has received a GBP 2,000 injury compensation payout after being made to wear ill-fitting body armour in the course of his duties.ADNFCR-2070-ID-19632533-ADNFCR
