Two men have been jailed following a fatal work injury which took the life of a 15-year-old labourer in Hadley Wood.
Builder Colin Holton and contractor Darren Fowler were following an incident at a private address in the town, where labourer Adam Gosling became trapped underneath a collapsed wall which was in the process of being demolished.
An investigation found that the teenager had been doing casual work in 2007 for Colin Holtom, who was sub-contracted by a company for a project managed by Darren Fowler.
It emerged that there had been no proper discussion or instruction on how the wall should be demolished, and Adam and his brother were left to carry out the task without supervision.
Detective inspector Pete Basnett commented that the convictions "should serve as a clear warning that health and safety laws are there for a reason and ignoring them can have tragic consequences".
The Health and Safety Executive recently issued a warning to children about the dangers of playing on construction sites.
