Wedding attack victim receives injury compensation payout

An attack at a wedding in Wales has left one bridesmaid with a GBP 1,500 injury compensation bill to pay.

Emma Meredith, 24, had been a bridesmaid at the wedding of Lyndsey White and Barry Morgan when the incident occurred at the Thomas Arms in Llanelli, the South Wales Evening Post reports.

Following a heated argument with her boyfriend, Ms Meredith broke a glass over the neck and collar bone of wedding guest Emma Jayne Davies, who was trying to console her.

Ms Davies required a total of seven stitches and has been scarred for life following the attack, leaving her reluctant to go out socialising.

She was awarded an injury compensation sum of GBP 1,500 by Judge Peter Haywood, whom the paper reports as adding: "That in no way is a reflection of what the true value of her claim for this injury may be."

The incident follows reports in the Leicester Mercury that a man who suffered severe injuries after being assaulted in the street in Melton Mowbray has received a total of GBP 1,000 in compensation.ADNFCR-2070-ID-19345054-ADNFCR
