A Bognor Regis woman may be in a position to make an injury compensation claim after she was hurt by a piece of falling wood from a skip lorry.
The woman, 38, was driving along the A27 at Fishbourne, near Chichester, when the object dropped from the skip and hit the windscreen of her car, the Portsmouth News reports.
Her four-month-old baby was travelling in the front passenger seat with her but fortunately escaped from the incident uninjured.
However, the driver of the lorry failed to stop and continued his journey west-bound towards Hampshire.
Police are currently appealing for witnesses to the incident, as failing to stop at the scene of an accident is a criminal offence which can incur a fine of up to GBP 5,000 or even a six-month prison sentence.
It follows reports in the Scottish Daily Record that a pensioner has been awarded nearly GBP 4,000 in injury compensation after a mattress fell on his car.
