Motorcycle insurance customers in Leeds are being given the chance to get a free assessment of their riding skills as part of a Leeds city council initiative.
Bikers will be able to take a riding health check-up worth £35 with a qualified Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) instructor, in conjunction with the council’s road safety unit.
May is traditionally a peak month for accidents, which can push up motorcycle insurance premiums.
Rebecca Prosser, road safety manager at Leeds city council, says motorcyclists should take advantage of the help on offer.
"The beginning of the biking season is the best time to get some extra training or just have a riding check-up. It’s worth brushing up on your skills, particularly if you’ve had a break from riding during the winter," she added.
Recently the Motor Cycle Industry Association welcomed the Department for Transport’s commitment to improving motorcycle safety, although it said more could be done to prevent accidents caused by driver error.
