Worker launches GBP2m compensation claim

A Banff man who lost his arm in an accident at work at the Aberdeenshire Council refuse depot is set to launch a GBP2 million compensation claim against the local authority.

Steven Gallon lost his left arm, shoulder and part of his collarbone in the accident at the waste plant.

Mr Gallon suffered the accident working at Inverboyndie Waste Treatment Plant when his arm became entangled in the onsite machinery.

He is said to have suffered from flashbacks and nightmares ever since the incident.

Commenting on the horror accident, Mr Gallon’s father Ian said the episode had left his son psychologically as well as physically scarred.

“He says he can feel his left hand like it is clenched into a fist, although it’s not there. He has been through so much and it has been hard for me to see him going through it,” he told the Press and Journal.

A Shields man was this week awarded GBP1 million following a medical negligence claim against a local authority failed to treat him for head injuries, which left him with brain damage.
